Now that summer is upon us, it is time to get out the sunscreen. My Irish heritage has given me very fair skin and when I am in the sun, I have a tendency to burn…..oh, baby do I burn! LOL. I like to use a sunscreen of at least SPF 50. My wife can get away with using a 15 or 25, I need the super industrial strength that is like smearing on the Carmex type of stuff.
The thing that bugs me most about sunscreen is the price, $10 or more for 4 oz. Really?
Well, Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products helps the pocket book without sacrificing quality. Health care cost are out of control and saving money on over-the-counter products can really help a family’s budget. Besides being budget friendly, Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products have many other great benefits like:
- Walgreens pharmacist recommended.
- Most contain the same active ingredients as other national brands.
- Have a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Sounds like a no brainer to me. If satisfaction is guaranteed why not try Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products and save a few bucks?

So I decided to give Walgreens Sport SPF 50 Sunscreen a try. Retail price, a 3 oz. tube, 2 for $5. I can get 3 times the product for the same price as the national brand product. Sweet! But does it work the same?
Since I live in San Antonio, the temperatures are warm and sunny already, spring has sprung, and there is yard work to do (yuck)…I could think of better ways to spend a Saturday, but it has to be done. What a great way to test Walgreens Sport SPF Sunscreen. I rubbed half of my face and one arm with Walgreens Sport SPF 50 sunscreen and a national brand on the other half of my face and other arm. Then out the door I go for a couple of hours of hot, sweaty yard work… oh did I mention that the humidity was 80% … should be enough to really test the “sport” feature of the sunscreen. We will see how “very sweat resistant” this lotion is.
After 2 1/2 hours of mulching and weed pulling the job is done. Now it’s time to go inside, shower, and see if I look like a lobster or not….
I must say, Walgreens Sunscreen Lotion did a marvelous job. I did not burn at all. I only wish I would have thought to rub some on the top of my head! Oops
When my wife and I head to Costa Rica this summer, I will make sure my bag is full of Walgreens Sunscreen Lotion!
Walgreens also has a cool program called the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ you should check out!
