Preparing for Preschool
It has been a long time since my kiddos where in preschool. Seesh….sound like I’m an old man or something. I guess it was only about 5 years ago for my youngest Anah, but it sure feels like forever ago and is such a blur LOL. There was a time when we had one in elementary school, two in preschool, and an infant!! Can you say crazy??? (hence the blur….or maybe it is more of selective memory)
It didn’t take us long to understand the importance of preschool. Our oldest daughter Destiny went to KinderCare. It was there she met her best friend Scott…and they still stay in touch to this day even after we moved states several times. It was at KinderCare that her love of art formed as well. She is big into this Japanese Anime stuff now….and is really talented. She learned what it meant to share, tie her shoes, and to clean up after herself. Oh the priceless lessons of preschool.
Now that fall enrollment is in full swing……the craziness is about to begin for many parents. Oh, I’m so glad to be beyond that now….but wouldn’t trade those days and memories for nothing. The best advice that I can give any parent that is prepping for preschool is if you don’t already have a routine and schedule, now is a great time to get one at home. They have one in preschool so it is good practice. When the kiddos know what is expected, it makes everyone’s life less hectic…. And, I’ll be the first to tell you that is mom’s day starts off good and goes smooth….than everyone’s else day will too. Because…you know the saying….if mom ain’t happy, NOBODY is happy. Especially dad. Those are the days you will find me breaking something…all sly like….so that I can go hide in the garage and attempt to fix it.
Also, as a parent, you know the importance of literacy/reading. Did you know you can help those youngsters in the poorest of communities? Here’s how. Just leave a comment with your advice to those parents that are preparing to enter the world of preschool. KinderCare will choose one lucky participant and make donation in their name to the Reach Out and Read chapter of their choice!
