My earliest memories of a Swiss Army Knife was when I was a cub scout. My dad was the troop leader and he would bring his Swiss Army knife on our camping and fishing excursions. I remember how ecstatic I was when I received my very first Swiss Army Knife. I got it for my 10th birthday! I sawed tree branches, cleaned fish…..and don’t tell my dad, but I even opened my first beer with it! Such great memories. That was over twenty years ago and I still have my very first Swiss Army Knife and use it regularly. What is your earliest childhood memory of the Swiss Army knives?
The Dual Pro X is definitely not your typical Swiss Army Knife. The biggest difference between my old knife and the new Dual Pro X is the length. The Dual Pro X is much larger than the standard Swiss Army Knife. The One-Hand Locking Blade is 3 inches long making it look and feel more like a standard size pocket knife. The other major difference is the locking feature. The blade locks in place and there is a latch you have to push before the blade will disengage. I think this is a great safety feature that allows you not to get hurt……especially good when cleaning slippery fish or game.
So I wanted to try out a few of the features of the knife around the house and thought I would tackle some things on my “Honey Do” list. The first thing on my list was to tighten some of the cabinet doors in the kitchen that has started to come loose. No problem, with the built in Phillips Screwdriver on the Dual X Pro I made quick work of that task. Nice.
I was also able to tighten up a few of the electric socket / light switch face plates with the built in flat head screwdriver. I like how there is two sizes so you can make sure to get the best fit and not strip the screw head.
My next tasks was to cut off a few dead limbs from one of our trees. The tree was just planted last year but we had a drought and water restrictions over most the summer so the tree is struggling to come back. Since the tree is a little smaller I thought the Dual Pro X could do the job. The seat belt cutter ended up being the best option since it has a serrated blade like that of a saw.
It was great, in no time at all I was able to knock a few things of my list and did not have to go dig a bunch of different tools out of my toolbox. Very handy.
You know Father’s Day is coming up and the Dual Pro X from Swiss Army would be an awesome gift any dad would sure to love! (maybe it will help him knock some stuff off his “Honey Do” list as well…..besides the dust that is!)
